A decade ago, the startup concept was barely recognized in Barcelona. However, this year's event, with its two bustling pavilions, has demonstrated the startup ecosystem's firm foothold in the economic framework. Entrepreneurs are now presenting tangible technology solutions to a diverse audience, including large companies, innovative SMEs and public administrations, all looking for inspiration and practical solutions.
A notable trend of the event was the active participation of traditional industry players alongside new start-ups, creating a dynamic exchange that highlighted the event's role as a hub of innovation. Established companies from various sectors explored partnerships and investments with emerging companies, showing adaptability and a forward-looking mindset. Government agencies and public entities also participated significantly, reflecting their role in supporting innovation and technological advancement. Collaborations between emerging and established companies highlighted a symbiotic relationship where innovation meets experience and scale.
This year, a notable feature was the significant representation of university-driven start-ups, underscoring the growing synergy between academia and industry. Universities presented market-ready technologies, highlighting their role as innovation incubators. These academic ventures offered new opportunities for collaboration, bridging the gap between theoretical research and practical industry applications. The universities' participation also highlighted their evolving role in nurturing entrepreneurial talent, combining academic rigor with business acumen.
To add dynamism to the event, ACCIÓ organized the Open Innovation Challenge, in which we participated. They provided a platform for startups and innovators to present their solutions to real-world problems, encouraging the practical application of cutting-edge ideas and facilitating direct interaction between innovators and industry leaders. Our Open Innovation challenges received over 100 responses, and 20 startups are already filling our agenda with upcoming meetings and presentations. In a future communication we will share these innovative and disruptive products with you.

It was an invaluable opportunity to engage directly with potential partners who possess the agility and innovative solutions that could address our specific needs and catalyze our collective goals.
